Job summary

Barnes-Jewish Hospital offers a Patient Care Tech (PCT) Academy—a paid 6-week program combining classroom instruction, hands-on skill labs, and on-the-job training to prepare unlicensed assistive personnel.

Weeks 1-3: M-F 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.; Weeks 4-6: three 12-hour clinical shifts. Locations include Barnes Jewish Hospital and other St. Louis area campuses. Benefits eligible with holiday and weekend rotations.

Qualifications

• No experience required.
• Preferred experience as CNA, nurse assistant, EMT, or surgical technician.

Responsibilities

• Implements direct patient care under the supervision of the nurse, promoting patient and family centered care in a healing environment.
• Administers or assists patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), performs vital signs, intake & output, fall and pressure ulcer prevention measures.
• Collects clinical data and information on patients, and reports changes in patient status to the nurse.
• Assists nurse with patient and family education and documents all patient care activities with correct medical terminology.
• Ensures availability of supplies and equipment to meet each patient's needs and participates in patient safety initiatives.
