Bayhealth is seeking a Registered Nurse for the PCU at the Kent Campus in Dover, with nights shift and full-time hours. The unit cares for adult patients with telemetry and step-down needs, emphasizing safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate Degree Nursing or Nursing Diploma.
• Credential: Registered Nurse, Basic Life Support (ACLS/PALS may be required).
• Experience: None Required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, professional nursing care to patients in the Acute Care setting.
• Develop a patient-centered plan of care based on individualized needs.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient medical records.
• Counsel and educate patients and care partners on treatment plans.
• Administer medications following the five rights of administration.
• Provide wound care and dressing changes as applicable.
• Read and interpret patient information, making decisions when appropriate.
• Consult with physicians to decide on best treatment decisions when appropriate.
• Perform nursing interventions to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Observe and record patient behavior and response to interventions.
• Demonstrate quality, safe and effective patient care.
• Delegate to unlicensed assistive staff and LPN staff.
• Adhere to Bayhealth values: compassion, accountability, respect, integrity, teamwork.
• Participate in quality and performance improvement plans.
• Contribute to decision making under ethical principles.
• Ensure timely and accurate documentation of patient care.
• Carry out other duties as assigned within scope.

UNIT DESCRIPTION

PCU- The Progressive Care Unit ( PCU ) is a large 32 bed telemetry step-down unit located at the Bayhealth Kent Campus in Dover. We care for an adult 18+ patient population with complex comorbidities not limited to, but with a special focus in neurological diagnoses. We serve as a fast-paced transition point between the Intensive Care Unit and medical surgical unit s. We are looking for team members that are critical thinkers, adaptable, and enjoy a challenge. We prioritize safe patient care and the Bayhealth values of Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Integrity, and Teamwork. As a unit , we focus on teamwork and support growth and professional development at all positions. We participate in the accredited Nurse Residency Program, have a robust orientation process, and team culture that can support nurses with varying backgrounds and levels of experience.

General Summary

The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care to patients within a assigned unit with a commitment to quality and safety. Professional nursing practices, requiring specialized knowledge judgment and skill are performed using the process in accordance with hospital policy, procedures and nursing philosophy.

• 13. Demonstrates standards of excellence which includes practicing nursing with core values of compassion, accountability, respect, teamwork and integrity.
• 14. Demonstrates understanding and executes quality and performance improvement plans. (only for RN evaluation)
• 15. Participates in decision making and takes actions based on ethical principles. (only for RN evaluation)
• 16. Provides timely and accurate documentation of patient care.
• 17. All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.
