Job summary

Bayhealth seeks a Registered Nurse at the Kent Campus Hospital to provide professional nursing care in the acute care setting. This full-time position supports a 72-hour weekly schedule on day shifts, focusing on patient-centered care, medication administration, wound care, and collaborative treatment decisions.

The role requires an Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma, RN licensure, and a commitment to quality and safety. Specialty certifications may be encouraged during orientation.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate Degree Nursing or Nursing Diploma.
• Credential: Registered Nurse, ACLS/PALS may be required per manager’s direction.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, professional nursing care to patients in the acute care setting.
• Develop a patient-centered plan of care based on individual needs.
• Administer medications following the five rights of medication administration.
• Provide wound care and dressing changes as applicable.
• Document patient care timely and accurately.
• Collaborate with physicians to determine best treatment decisions.

General Summary

The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care to patients within a assigned unit with a commitment to quality and safety. Professional nursing practices, requiring specialized knowledge judgment and skill are performed using the process in accordance with hospital policy, procedures and nursing philosophy.

Responsibilities

• 1. Provide direct, professional nursing care to specified population of patients in the acute care setting.
• 2. Develops a patient centered plan of care based on individualized needs.
• 3. Maintains confidentiality of the patient medical record.
• 4. Counsel and educate patients and their care partner on treatment plans.
• 5. Administer medication following the five rights of medication administration.
• 6. Provide wound care and dressing changes, as applicable.
• 7. Read and interpret patient information, making treatment decisions, when appropriate.
• 8. Consult with physicians to decide on best treatment decisions when appropriate
• 9. Performs nursing interventions to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• 10. Observe and record patient behavior and response to nursing interventions.
• 11. Demonstrates quality, safe and effective patient care.
• 12. Provides delegation to unlicensed assistive staff and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) staff
• 13. Demonstrates standards of excellence which includes practicing nursing with core values of compassion, accountability, respect, teamwork and integrity.
• 14. Demonstrates understanding and executes quality and performance improvement plans. (only for RN evaluation)
• 15. Participates in decision making and takes actions based on ethical principles. (only for RN evaluation)
• 16. Provides timely and accurate documentation of patient care.
• 17. All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.

Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience

• Education: Associate Degree Nursing Or Nursing Diploma.
• Credential(s): Registered Nurse, Basic Life Support (ACLS / PALS may be required per manager’s direction and timeframe*Commit to seeking specialty certification within time frame as indicated during interview.)
