Job summary

Bayhealth is seeking a part-time Registered Nurse at the Sussex Campus to provide professional nursing care in the acute care setting. The role requires developing patient-centered care plans, documenting care, and collaborating with physicians to determine treatment decisions.

Education: Diploma/ADN required with BLS/NRP, ACLS, and PALS. Acute care RN experience preferred; BSN is desirable. Shift is Evening/Night, salary range is $37.98–$58.87 hourly.

Qualifications

• Diploma or ADN in Nursing required.
• RN licensure with BLS/NRP within 6 months; ACLS within 90 days; PALS.
• ACLS/PALS may be required per manager's direction.
• Acute care RN experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, professional nursing care to patients in the acute care setting.
• Develop a patient-centered plan of care based on individualized needs.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient medical records.
• Counsel and educate patients and care partners on treatment plans.
• Administer medications following the five rights of medication administration.
• Provide wound care and dressing changes as applicable.
• Read and interpret patient information, making treatment decisions when appropriate.
• Consult with physicians to decide on best treatment decisions when appropriate
• Performs nursing interventions to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Observe and record patient responses to nursing interventions.
• Provides timely and accurate documentation of patient care.
• All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.

SALARY RANGE: 37.98 - 58.87 HOURLY

General Summary: The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care to patients within a assigned unit with a commitment to quality and safety. Professional nursing practices, requiring specialized knowledge judgment and skill are performed using the process in accordance with hospital policy, procedures and nursing philosophy.

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct, professional nursing care to specified population of patients in the acute care setting.
• Develops a patient centered plan of care based on individualized needs.
• Maintains confidentiality of the patient medical record.
• Counsel and educate patients and their care partner on treatment plans.
• Administer medication following the five rights of medication administration.
• Provide wound care and dressing changes, as applicable.
• Read and interpret patient information, making treatment decisions, when appropriate.
• Consult with physicians to decide on best treatment decisions when appropriate

• Observe and record patient behavior and response to nursing interventions.

Tasks: Demonstrates quality, safe and effective patient care.

• Provides delegation to unlicensed assistive staff and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) staff
• Demonstrates standards of excellence which includes practicing nursing with core values of compassion, accountability, respect, teamwork and integrity.
• Demonstrates understanding and executes quality and performance improvement plans. (only for RN evaluation)
• Participates in decision making and takes actions based on ethical principles. (only for RN evaluation)
• Provides timely and accurate documentation of patient care.
• All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.

Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience:

• Education: Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing
• Credential(s): Registered Nurse RN Basic Life Support BLS NRP within 6 months of hire, if not already obtained Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support - Within 90 days. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support - Within 6 months. Pediatric Advanced Life Support PALS
• ACLS / PALS may be required per manager’s direction and timeframe *Commit to seeking specialty certification within time frame as indicated during interview
• Experience: Acute care RN experience strongly preferred
