Job summary

Bayhealth Kent Campus Hospital in Dover seeks a Registered Nurse to provide direct, professional care in the acute care setting with Nights / Variable shifts and a 72-hour full-time schedule. The role emphasizes patient-centered planning, documentation, and collaboration with physicians.

Required: Diploma or ADN/ASN, RN license with BLS; ACLS/NRP within 6 months. BSN preferred; acute care RN experience strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• Education: Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing.
• RN licensure and certifications (BLS, ACLS, NRP) within 6 months of hire.
• Experience: Acute care RN experience strongly preferred.
• ACLS/PNL may be required per manager’s direction and timeframe.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, professional nursing care to patients in the acute care setting.
• Develops a patient-centered plan of care.
• Maintains confidentiality of patient records and documentation.
• Counsel and educate patients and families on treatment plans.
• Administer medications following the five rights of medication administration.
• Provide wound care and dressing changes as applicable.
• Collaborate with physicians to determine best treatment decisions.
• Perform nursing interventions to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Document patient care timely and accurately.
• Demonstrate compassionate, accountable, respectful, and collaborative care.

SALARY RANGE: 37.98 - 58.87 HOURLY

General Summary: The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care to patients within a assigned unit with a commitment to quality and safety. Professional nursing practices, requiring specialized knowledge judgment and skill are performed using the process in accordance with hospital policy, procedures and nursing philosophy.

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct, professional nursing care to specified population of patients in the acute care setting.
• Develops a patient centered plan of care based on individualized needs.
• Maintains confidentiality of the patient medical record.
• Counsel and educate patients and their care partner on treatment plans.
• Administer medication following the five rights of medication administration.
• Provide wound care and dressing changes, as applicable.
• Read and interpret patient information, making treatment decisions, when appropriate.
• Consult with physicians to decide on best treatment decisions when appropriate
• Performs nursing interventions to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Observe and record patient behavior and response to nursing interventions.
• Demonstrates quality, safe and effective patient care.
• Provides delegation to unlicensed assistive staff and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) staff
• Demonstrates standards of excellence which includes practicing nursing with core values of compassion, accountability, respect, teamwork and integrity.
• Demonstrates understanding and executes quality and performance improvement plans. (only for RN evaluation)
• Participates in decision making and takes actions based on ethical principles. (only for RN evaluation)
• Provides timely and accurate documentation of patient care.
• All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.

Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience:

• Education: Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing
• Credential(s): Registered Nurse RN Basic Life Support BLS NRP within 6 months of hire, if not already obtained Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support - Within 6 months.
• ACLS / PALS may be required per manager’s direction and timeframe *Commit to seeking specialty certification within time frame as indicated during interview
• Experience: Acute care RN expereince strongly preferred

Preferred Education, Credential(s) and Experience:

• Education: Bachelor Degree Nursing BSN
• Credential(s): Certification related to the position, if applicable.
• Experience: Experience in relevant specialty, Labor & Delivery L&D
