Job summary

Bayhealth is seeking a Registered Nurse at the Kent Campus Hospital in Dover, DE, for full-time, 72 hours with a variable shift. The role involves direct patient care in an acute setting, care planning, documentation, and collaboration with physicians to determine best treatments.

Required ADN/ diploma with RN license and BLS; ACLS/PALS may be required. Experience in a relevant specialty is preferred. Bayhealth offers competitive benefits and growth opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct, professional nursing care to patients in the acute care setting.
  • Develop a patient-centered plan of care based on individual needs.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient medical records.
  • Counsel and educate patients and their care partners on treatment plans.
  • Administer medications following the five rights of medication administration.
  • Provide wound care and dressing changes as applicable.
  • Read and interpret patient information and assist with treatment decisions.
  • Consult with physicians to decide on best treatment.
  • Perform nursing interventions to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
  • Observe and record patient responses to care.
  • Provide delegation to unlicensed assistive staff and LPNs.
  • Demonstrate compassion, accountability, respect, teamwork and integrity.
  • Participate in quality and performance improvement plans.
  • Contribute to ethical decision making.
  • Provide timely and accurate documentation of patient care.
  • All other duties as assigned.

SALARY RANGE: 37.98 - 58.87 HOURLY
General Summary:

The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care to patients within a assigned unit with a commitment to quality and safety. Professional nursing practices, requiring specialized knowledge judgment and skill are performed using the process in accordance with hospital policy, procedures and nursing philosophy.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct, professional nursing care to specified population of patients in the acute care setting.
  • Develops a patient centered plan of care based on individualized needs.
  • Maintains confidentiality of the patient medical record.
  • Counsel and educate patients and their care partner on treatment plans.
  • Administer medication following the five rights of medication administration.
  • Provide wound care and dressing changes, as applicable.
  • Read and interpret patient information, making treatment decisions, when appropriate.
  • Consult with physicians to decide on best treatment decisions when appropriate
  • Performs nursing interventions to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
  • Observe and record patient behavior and response to nursing interventions.
  • Demonstrates quality, safe and effective patient care.
  • Provides delegation to unlicensed assistive staff and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) staff
  • Demonstrates standards of excellence which includes practicing nursing with core values of compassion, accountability, respect, teamwork and integrity.
  • Demonstrates understanding and executes quality and performance improvement plans. (only for RN evaluation)
  • Participates in decision making and takes actions based on ethical principles. (only for RN evaluation)
  • Provides timely and accurate documentation of patient care.
  • All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.
Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience:
  • Education: Associate Degree Nursing Or Nursing Diploma.
  • Credential(s): Registered Nurse; Basic Life Support; *ACLS / PALS may be required per manager’s direction and timeframe *Commit to seeking specialty certification within time frame as indicated during interview
  • Experience: Required: Preferred: Experience in relevant specialty.
