Job summary

Bayhealth Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Kent Campus to provide direct, professional care in the acute care setting. The successful candidate will develop patient-centered plans, administer medications, educate patients and families, and collaborate with physicians to ensure the best outcomes.

Positions are full-time, 72 hours per pay period, days 7a–7p, with a competitive hourly rate of 37.98 BoE.

Qualifications

  • Education: Associate Degree; Nursing; Or Nursing Diploma.
  • Credential: Registered Nurse, Basic Life Support.
  • Experience: None.
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Certification related to the position, if applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct, professional nursing care to patients in the acute care setting.
  • Develop a patient-centered plan of care based on individualized needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality of the patient medical record.
  • Counsel and educate patients and their care partners on treatment plans.
  • Administer medications following the five rights of medication administration.
  • Provide wound care and dressing changes as applicable.
  • Read and interpret patient information, making treatment decisions when appropriate.
  • Consult with physicians to decide on best treatment decisions when appropriate.
  • Perform nursing interventions to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
  • Observe and record patient behavior and response to nursing interventions.
  • Demonstrate quality, safe and effective patient care.
  • Provide delegation to unlicensed assistive staff and LPN staff.
  • Demonstrates standards of excellence with compassion, accountability, respect, teamwork and integrity.
  • Participate in quality and performance improvement plans.
  • Provide timely and accurate documentation of patient care.
  • All other duties as assigned within scope.

General Summary:

The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care to patients within a assigned unit with a commitment to quality and safety. Professional nursing practices, requiring specialized knowledge judgment and skill are performed using the process in accordance with hospital policy, procedures and nursing philosophy.

Responsibilities:

  • Participates in decision making and takes actions based on ethical principles. (only for RN evaluation)
  • Provides timely and accurate documentation of patient care.
  • All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.
Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience:
  • Education: Associate Degree; Nursing; Or Nursing Diploma.
  • Credential(s): Registered Nurse, Basic Life Support.
  • Experience: None.
Preferred Education, Credential(s) and Experience:
  • Education: Bachelor Degree, Nursing.
  • Credential(s): Certification related to the position, if applicable.
  • Experience: Experience in relevant specialty.
