Job summary

Bassett Healthcare Network is seeking a Medical Office Assistant I to be the first point of contact for patients within the network. You will support ambulatory care teams with front desk tasks, scheduling, and accurate patient information to ensure timely revenue capture.

This role emphasizes patient-centered service, clear communication with nurses and providers, and attention to detail in data entry and scheduling. Strong customer service and computer skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• 2 year/Associate Degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receives and greets every patient in a courteous and friendly manner.
• Answers phones with a 3-part greeting and takes clear, complete messages.
• Schedules outpatient appointments and manages registrations with accurate demographic and insurance data.
• Obtains and verifies demographic and insurance information for billing and regulatory needs.
• Collects co-payments and processes payments with cash handling where applicable.
• Provides information and directions to patients and coordinates with nurses and providers.
