Bassett Healthcare Network's Medical Office Assistant I role is the patient’s first contact, delivering courteous greetings, accurate registrations, and clear communication to nurses and providers to support efficient ambulatory care.

You will handle scheduling, insurance verification, patient education, and cash handling, while ensuring a high-quality experience and compliance with policies across the Bassett network.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.
• Minimum one year of relevant work experience, required.
• Minimum one year of customer service experience, preferred.
• An associate degree may be considered towards one year of relevant work experience.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist patients in a courteous manner.
• Schedule outpatient appointments and manage registrations.
• Collect demographic and insurance information for registration and billing.
• Handle payment collection and cash handling per policy.
• Provide information to nurses and providers and relay messages to patients.
