Job summary

UnitedHealth Group in Monument, CO is seeking a Patient Care Coordinator to greet and register patients, verify insurance, and manage check-in/check-out tasks in a fast-paced clinic setting.

The role supports scheduling, cash collection, and medical records management while ensuring high-quality patient experiences. Monday–Friday, 8:00AM–5:00PM MST with training hours possible. A robust benefits package accompanies this position.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1+ year of customer service experience with strong communication.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Greets patients as they arrive and manages wait time.
  • Complete check-in and check-out tasks including insurance verification, pre-authorizations and/or precertification, and document copying.
  • Complete check-outs with patients in exam rooms.
  • Collect co-pays, coinsurance, and deductibles and issue receipts.
  • Manage cashier box and daily deposits according to policies.
  • Process walk-in patients and visitors; answer phones and schedule appointments.
  • Handle medical records filing/scanning and release requests.
  • Maintain effective relationships with patients, employees, and the public.

Patient Care Coordinator

greets and registers patients in a prompt, pleasant and helpful manner, as well as instructs, directs, and schedules patients and visitors. The receptionist receives cash payments from patients, issues receipts and posts cash payment data.

Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 5:00PM MST. Training hours may vary outside of the standard working schedule.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Greets patients as they arrive and manages wait time
  • Complete check-in and check-out tasks to include insurance verification, complete pre-authorizations and/or precertification of procedures, and copy required documents
  • Complete check-outs with patients in exam rooms
  • Collects co-payments, co-insurance, and deductibles and issues receipts
  • Manages cashier box and daily deposits according to company policies
  • Process walk-in patients and visitors
  • Answers phones and schedules appointments
  • Answer telephone calls, re-direct calls as appropriate, assist callers with questions or concerns, and take messages as needed
  • Manages medical records (maintains, files/scans, prepares for schedule)
  • Ensures all correspondence is scanned and/or filed, processes requests for medical records release and maintains appropriate logs, etc.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 1+ years of customer service experience with strong communication both in person and via phone
  • Intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1+ years of experience with electronic health records
  • 1+ years of healthcare experience including scheduling experience
  • 1+ years of experience handling and triaging of telephone calls and a multi-system phone line
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Ability to handle cash and to count money at high volumes including mathematical computations

  • Ability to work independently and as a team, and maintain good judgment and accountability
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with health care providers
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks to meet all deadlines
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to speak clearly and concisely, conveying information in a manner that others can understand, as well as ability to understand and interpret information from others

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $18.00 to $32.00 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
