Job summary

UnitedHealth Group's Optum division seeks a Patient Care Coordinator in Greenbrae, CA to greet patients, register them, verify insurance, and manage check-in/check-out. This full-time role requires onsite work 7:00am–6:30pm PST, Monday–Saturday, with occasional overtime.

You will handle co-pays, process documents, manage medical records, and assist with scheduling. Training is provided (4–6 weeks) and hours align with your schedule.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1+ years of customer service or healthcare related experience.
  • 6+ months of experience with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work onsite at 100A Drakes Landing Road, Greenbrae, CA 94904.
  • Ability to work during normal business hours 7:00am–6:30pm PST, Monday–Saturday; overtime may be required.
  • Must be 18 years or older.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients as they arrive and manage wait time.
  • Complete check-in and check-out tasks including insurance verification and precertifications.
  • Collect co-pays, co-insurance, and deductibles and issue receipts.
  • Manage cashier box and daily deposits per company policy.
  • Process walk-in patients and visitors; answer phones and schedule appointments.
  • Maintain medical records and ensure documentation is filed/scanned.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with patients and staff.

The Patient Care Coordinator greets and registers patients in a prompt, pleasant and helpful manner, as well as instructs, directs, and schedules patients and visitors. The receptionist receives cash payments from patients, issues receipts and posts cash payment data.

This position is full-time, 40 hours per week. Employees are required to work during our normal business hours of 7:00am - 6:30pm PST, Monday - Saturday. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime. Employees are required to work onsite during our normal business hours. Our office is located at 100A Drakes Landing Road, Greenbrae, CA 94904.

We offer 4-6 weeks of on-the-job training. The hours of training will be aligned with your schedule.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Greets patients as they arrive and manages wait time
  • Complete check-in and check-out tasks to include insurance verification, complete pre-authorizations and/or precertification of procedures, and copy required documents
  • Collects co-payments, co-insurance, and deductibles and issues receipts
  • Manages cashier box and daily deposits according to company policies
  • Processes walk-in patients and visitors
  • Answers phones and schedules appointments
  • Answer telephone calls, re-direct calls as appropriate, assist callers with questions or concerns, and take messages as needed
  • Manages medical records (maintains, files/scans, prepares for schedule)
  • Ensures all correspondence is scanned and/or filed, processes requests for medical records release and maintains appropriate logs, etc.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 1+ years of customer service or healthcare related experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • 1+ years of experience with electronic health records
  • 1+ years of experience in related healthcare experience, including scheduling experience
  • 1+ years of experience handling and triaging of telephone calls and a multi-system phone line
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Ability to handle cash and to count money at high volumes including mathematical computations

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
