Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a medical assistant to prepare patients for appointments, assist with exams and procedures, collect information, and keep patient records up to date. You will also schedule appointments, handle referrals and payments, and ensure the clinic has the supplies it needs.

The position requires completion of an ABHES/CAAHEP-accredited medical assistant program (or equivalent), CPR/BLS certification within 90 days, and training in medication administration.

Qualifications

• ABHES/CAAHEP accredited medical assistant program is required or equivalent.
• CPR/BLS certification required within 90 days.
• Medication injection training and pharmacology competency required.

Responsibilities

• Rooms patients and prepares them for examinations.
• Assists in exams, treatments and clinic procedures.
• Assists with lab procedures, screening tests, and QA projects.
• Answers calls, triages inquiries, and directs patients as needed.
• Schedules appointments and enters them into the scheduler.
• Collects payments and issues receipts; maintains patient charts and records.
• Coordinates referrals with insurance and other physicians.
• Maintains supplies and prepares patient charts.
