Job summary

Mercyhealth is seeking a Medical Assistant to room patients, collect assessment data, and prepare patients for procedures. You will assist with examinations, treatments, and laboratory tasks, and help with screening and QI projects.

The role also involves phones, scheduling, registrations, referrals, and payments, under supervision. Eligibility includes ABHES/CAAHEP-accredited program graduation, post-secondary credentials, and CPR/BLS certification within 90 days.

Qualifications

• Graduate of ABHES or CAAHEP accredited medical assistant program or regionally/nationally accredited program.
• Experience in a clinical rotation preferred.
• CPR or BLS certification within 90 days is required.

Responsibilities

• Rooms patients, collects assessment data and prepares patient according to specific need.
• Assists in examination, treatment and clinic procedures.
• Assists with lab procedures, screening tests and quality improvement projects.
• Answers telephone, triages or directs inquiries to appropriate personnel.
• Schedules appointments and uses computerized scheduler.
• Conducts reminder calls to patients.
• Registers patients and updates records in the system.
• Coordinates referrals and collects payments.
