Job summary

Montefiore Nyack Hospital seeks a Patient Care Associate to support nursing staff by providing direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The PCA assists with routine tasks, and may perform Monitor Technician duties after demonstrated competence.

Responsibilities include vital signs, ADL assistance, feeding support, mobility, phlebotomy, EKG and glucose testing, with accurate documentation of observations. Workdays are Day shift with rotating schedule and 8-hour shifts.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to take vital signs
• Ability to assist with activities of daily living
• Capable of documenting patient data accurately

Responsibilities

• Take vital signs and monitor patient condition
• Assist with activities of daily living and personal hygiene
• Assist with feeding, mobility, turning and positioning
• Perform phlebotomy via venous puncture and basic lab specimen collection
• Perform EKG and finger-stick glucose testing and report results
• Document patient data and changes to the RN
• Maintain a safe, clean patient environment and comply with safety policies
