Job summary

Montefiore Nyack Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Associate to support the Medical ICU team in Nyack, NY. The role involves performing assigned patient care tasks under RN supervision, including vital signs, ADLs, hygiene, and documentation of care activities.

The PCA may also perform phlebotomy, EKG, glucose testing and assist with feeding and mobility. It requires adherence to hospital policies, patient rights, and infection control while providing compassionate patient-centered care.

Responsibilities

• Performs direct nursing tasks including taking vital signs, assisting with activities of daily living and personal hygiene.
• Collects data and charts observations, reports changes to the RN, documents vital signs and other measurements.
• Assists with nutritional needs, checks food trays, feeds patients if needed, refills water/ice.
• Performs phlebotomy via venous puncture, obtains lab specimens, performs EKG and reports results.
• Maintains safe environment, complies with safety/infection control policies.
• Performs delegated or specialized functions as prepared; may handle medications for transport/retrieval.
