Job summary

Mercy is looking for a PCA/UAP to assist in individualized patient care under the direction of an RN or LPN. The role supports a team-based approach to reaching patient wellness and participates in Mercy's training program if needed.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, and may hold CNA/CPTC or be enrolled in a healthcare program. BLS is required within one month of hire, with PCA competencies due within three months, and physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED; CNA/CPTC or enrollment in a healthcare career program; 18+ and eligible for Mercy's UAP training.
  • BLS certification within 1 month of hire; PCA competencies within 3 months.
  • No prior experience required.
  • Must be able to push, pull, and lift 50 pounds; able to stand and walk for extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in individualized patient care under supervision of RN or LPN.
  • Perform designated clinical procedures and non-clinical tasks essential to patient care.
  • Work cooperatively with team toward common goals and participate in Mercy's orientation.

Job description

Find your calling at Mercy! Under the direction of the RN or LPN, assists in the individualized care of the patient to achieve the patients highest level of wellness. Works cooperatively with others as part of a team; recognizes the importance of group goals. Performs designated clinical procedures and non-clinical support tasks essential to providing care to the patient. Position Details:

  • Education: High school diploma, G.E.D, CNA/CPTC. or enrolled in a healthcare career program through their high school curriculum or age 18 and able to participate in Mercy's UAP training program, and/or a current co-worker of Mercy.
  • Licensure:
  • Experience: None required.
  • In the state of practice: If no previous experience, Mercy will provide a required 175-hour training program that meets the state of practice Department of Health and Senior Services requirements. The program will be completed as part of the new hire orientation process and must be completed within 90 days of hire to remain in the PCA position per state guidelines.
  • Certifications: BLS Required within one month of hire, completion of PCA competencies within 3 months of hire.
  • Other: Minimum Physical Requirements
  • Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Position requires prolonged standing and walking each shift.
  • Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
