Job summary

Heritage Valley Beaver is hiring a Patient Care Associate to provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. You will support patients with daily living activities, monitor vitals, and help with ambulation and safety, with shifts including days and evenings.

Eligible for a $3,000 sign-on/retention bonus; high school diploma required; CNA preferred. Completion of required clearances within 90 days is expected. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Excellent bedside manner and customer service & computer skills.
• Successful completion of applicable clearances within 90 days of starting employment.
• Preferred: CNA program completion; nursing student after first quarter/semester.
• Nursing assistant experience and BCLS certification are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
• Assist with daily living activities (dressing, bathing, feeding, toileting).
• Provide vitals checks, ambulation support, turning and patient safety.
• Set up/basic equipment (EKG, respiratory devices) as needed and transcribe orders when indicated.
• Respond to patient calls and maintain patient comfort and safety.

SIGN ON/ RETENTIONBONUS - Totaling $3,000 for Full-Time Patient Care Associates

Description

*Bonus Eligible* Department: Level 1 One Med/Surg

Work Hours: Four shifts per week, 2 - 12's and 2 - 8's, days and evenings, every other weekend and holidays as required.

Basic Function: Provides direct patient care appropriate to age, culture, and developmental needs under the direction of the Professional Nurse. Works closely with patients to provide physical assistance with daily living tasks, such as dressing, bathing, feeding, toileting, vital signs, catheter care, answering call lights, assisting with ambulation, turning, and ensuring patient safety. Technical skills may include obtaining 12 lead EKG, setting up respiratory equipment, glucometer monitoring, bladder catheterization and transcribing orders, when indicated.

Qualifications:

Required: High school graduate or equivalent. Excellent bedside manner and customer service & computer skills. Successful completion of applicable clearances as outlined in Human Resources policy HR-106 within 90 days of commencing employment.

Preferred:

Successful completion of a nursing assistant program (with proof of completion). Nursing student after successful completion of their first quarter/semester of nursing school. Previous nursing assistant experience, CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant). BCLS certification.
