Job summary

PAGNY seeks a Patient Care Associate to support medical and mental health services in NYC jail facilities. Under RN supervision, you will perform veni-punctures, HIV testing, vital signs, and EMR documentation while ensuring patient safety and comfort.

Responsibilities include assisting with admissions, transfers, hygiene, and routine nursing tasks, with rotating shifts including evenings. Requires GED, EKG, BCLS, and CNA-type credentials; union position with benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• Accredited High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
• EKG Certificate.
• BCLS Certification and computer competency required.
• HIV Pre and Post Test Counseling training/certification preferred.
• PCA/ PCT/ CNA Certificate.
• Infection Control Certificate.

Responsibilities

• Assist professional staff by performing patient care duties (veni-puncture, finger-sticks, HIV testing, telehealth support) under RN supervision.
• Observe and report changes in patient status to nursing staff.
• Maintain electronic medical records with accurate vital signs and documentation.
• Assist with admissions, transfers, and basic nursing tasks as directed.
• Ensure unit cleanliness, supply stocking, and equipment maintenance.
