Job summary

Mercy seeks a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to support nursing staff under the direction of an RN or LPN. You will assist in the individualized care of patients and perform both clinical procedures and non-clinical tasks as part of a cooperative team.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, BLS within one month, PCA training within 3 months, and the ability to lift 50 pounds and stand/walk for long shifts. Mercy provides 175 hours of training if no prior experience.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma, GED, CNA/CPTC or enrolled in a healthcare career program and/or Mercy employee.
• Certifications: BLS required within 1 month of hire; PCA competencies within 3 months.

Responsibilities

• Under RN/LPN direction, assist in individualized patient care to achieve wellness.
• Perform designated clinical procedures and non-clinical support tasks essential to patient care.
• Commit to training requirements and state guidelines for PCA position.
