Job summary

Yale NewHaven Health is seeking a Nursing Assistant to provide basic nursing care and patient monitoring under the supervision of registered nurses. Responsibilities include measuring vital signs, assisting with activities of daily living, preparing rooms and equipment, and ensuring patient safety.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited nursing assistant program, with BLS certification.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and graduate of an accredited nursing assistant program or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Assist with basic patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
• Take and record vital signs, SpO2, blood pressure and weight.
• Perform selected procedures (specimen collection, urine testing, dressing) as directed.
• Maintain clean and orderly patient care areas and equipment.
• Assist with patient orientation and respond to call lights.
• Monitor changes in patient condition and treatments/devices.
• Support ROM exercises and patient escort as needed.
• Perform patient observer role when assigned.
• Meet performance expectations in customer service, teamwork and resource use.
