Job summary

Resurrections Medical Center in Chicago, IL is seeking a Patient Care Assistant for the Med Surg department. You will support patients with activities of daily living and provide basic nursing care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

The schedule is 7am-7:30pm (12-hour shifts) with rotating weekends and holidays. A CNA certification is preferred, and several certifications (Phlebotomy, EKG, and BLS) are desirable along with knowledge of medical terminology.

Qualifications

• CNA certification required or state approved certification.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred on hire.
• EKG certification preferred on hire.
• BLS (AHA) within 30 days of hire and kept current.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum six months experience in an acute care setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists patients with activities of daily living and basic nursing care.
• Maintains a safe patient environment under RN supervision.
• Supports team with unit activities and patient comfort.

Education

Responsibilities

The Patient Care Assistant assists patients with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care to all patients and assists in maintenance of a safe environment under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse in charge of the team and/or unit.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

• 1. Current Phlebotomy certification upon hire, preferred.
• 2. Current EKG certification upon hire, preferred.
• 3. Current BLS (AHA) within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
• 4. Possesses knowledge of Medical Terminology.
• 5. Minimum six months previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician's office preferred.

Facility Specific Requirements (as applicable required):

• 6. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), State approved Certification required.
• 7. High School Diploma or equivalent
