IU Health's Med Surg 2 unit seeks a Patient Care Assistant (PCA) to work alongside nurses and the healthcare team, delivering compassionate patient care and supporting patients during their hospital stay.

You will assist with daily living activities, take vital signs, perform approved patient care tasks, and help maintain safety and infection control on a fast-paced inpatient unit. Strong teamwork and communication are essential.

Competenze

• High school diploma or GED required.
• CPR certification through quarterly RQI training required.
• Experience in acute patient care preferred.
• Additional advanced life support certifications may be required per unit policies.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology required.
• Knowledge of infection control principles required.
• Basic computer skills required.

Mansioni

• Partner with nurses and healthcare team to deliver exceptional patient care.
• Assist patients with activities of daily living (mobility, bathing, grooming, toileting).
• Obtain and report vital signs and other observations.
• Perform phlebotomy and other approved patient care tasks.
• Support patient safety initiatives and infection prevention practices.
• Document patient care activities accurately and timely.
• Collaborate with RNs, LPNs, Charge Nurses, and Unit Secretaries to ensure patient outcomes.
• Monitor patient responses and communicate concerns to the healthcare team.
