Job summary

St. Luke’s Health – Memorial Lufkin is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to help patients feel safe and comfortable by assisting with daily living activities, including hygiene, mobility, and feeding, under RN supervision.

You will monitor vital signs, assist with room preparation, and support nursing staff; accuracy in intake/output, weight monitoring, and glucose testing are essential, with coaching welcomed to ensure compassionate, high-quality care.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required upon hire.
• Graduated from accredited nursing program or 1 year direct patient care experience upon hire.
• Basic Life Support (CPR) within 14 days.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care as delegated by RN staff.
• Monitor and record vital signs.
• Assist with personal hygiene and mobility.
• Record intake and output accurately.
• Record daily weight.
• Perform blood glucose testing using a glucose meter.

Job Summary And Responsibilities

As our Patient Care Assistant, you’ll help our patients feel safer and more comfortable by assisting with their basic daily life activities.

Every day, you will directly support patients with tasks such as personal hygiene, mobility, and feeding, while also assisting nursing staff with vital sign monitoring and preparing patient rooms.

Your success in this role comes from your genuine desire to help patients feel better, whether that means giving them fresh bed linens or checking their vitals. You're diligent about your tasks, observant of patients’ conditions improving or declining, and accept coaching well.

• Assists in providing personal hygiene and physical care needs
• Accurately measures, records, and reports intake and output
• Obtains and records daily weight
• Performs blood glucose testing using blood glucose meter

Pay Range

$16.06 - $22.69 /hour
