Job summary

St. Luke’s Health – Memorial Lufkin, part of CommonSpirit Health, seeks a Patient Care Assistant to support patients with daily living activities and assist nursing staff.

You will help with personal hygiene, mobility, feeding, monitor vital signs, document intake and output, and assist with room preparation in a 279-bed facility serving East Texas.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Graduated from an accredited school of nursing or 1 year direct patient care experience.
• CPR/BLS certification within 14 days of start.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care as delegated by RN staff.
• Monitor and record vital signs.
• Assist with personal hygiene and mobility needs.
• Accurately measure, record, and report intake and output.
• Obtain and record daily weight.
• Perform blood glucose testing using a glucose meter.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

• As our Patient Care Assistant, you’ll help our patients feel safer and more comfortable by assisting with their basic daily life activities. Every day, you will directly support patients with tasks such as personal hygiene, mobility, and feeding, while also assisting nursing staff with vital sign monitoring and preparing patient rooms.Your success in this role comes from your genuine desire to help patients feel better, whether that means giving them fresh bed linens or checking their vitals. You're diligent about your tasks, observant of patients’ conditions improving or declining, and accept coaching well.

Job Requirements
