Job summary

CommonSpirit Health in Houston is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to help patients feel safer and more comfortable by supporting daily life activities. You will assist with personal hygiene, mobility, feeding, monitor vital signs with nursing staff, and prepare patient rooms.

This role requires a High School diploma or GED, or nursing program graduation, or 1 year of direct patient care experience, plus CPR/BLS within 14 days.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED upon hire.
• Graduated from accredited nursing school or have 1 year direct patient care experience upon hire.
• Basic Life Support - CPR within 14 days.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care as delegated by RN staff.
• Monitors and records vital signs.
• Assists in personal hygiene and physical care needs.
• Accurately measures, records, and reports intake and output.
• Obtains and records daily weight.
• Performs blood glucose testing using blood glucose meter.

As our Patient Care Assistant, you'll help our patients feel safer and more comfortable by assisting with their basic daily life activities.

Every day, you will directly support patients with tasks such as personal hygiene, mobility, and feeding, while also assisting nursing staff with vital sign monitoring and preparing patient rooms.

Your success in this role comes from your genuine desire to help patients feel better, whether that means giving them fresh bed linens or checking their vitals. You're diligent about your tasks, observant of patients' conditions improving or declining, and accept coaching well.
