Job summary

St. Luke’s Health – Memorial Lufkin is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to support patients with daily activities, hygiene, mobility and feeding, while assisting nursing staff with vital sign monitoring and room preparation.

You will help maintain clean linens, monitor patient conditions, and follow coaching to ensure safety and comfort. A genuine desire to help patients, attention to detail, and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or GED required.
• Graduated from an accredited school of nursing or 1 year direct patient care experience is preferred.
• Basic Life Support (CPR) certification expected within 14 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care as delegated by RN staff.
• Monitors and records vital signs.
• Assists with personal hygiene and physical care needs.
• Accurately measures, records, and reports intake and output.
• Obtains and records daily weight.
• Preforms blood glucose testing using a glucose meter.

Job Summary And Responsibilities

As our Patient Care Assistant, you’ll help our patients feel safer and more comfortable by assisting with their basic daily life activities. Every day, you will directly support patients with tasks such as personal hygiene, mobility, and feeding, while also assisting nursing staff with vital sign monitoring and preparing patient rooms. Your success in this role comes from your genuine desire to help patients feel better, whether that means giving them fresh bed linens or checking their vitals. You're diligent about your tasks, observant of patients’ conditions improving or declining, and accept coaching well.

Pay Range

$16.06 - $22.69 /hour
