Job summary

St. Luke’s Health – Memorial Lufkin, part of CommonSpirit Health, is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to help patients with daily living activities and to support nursing staff.

You will assist with personal hygiene, mobility, feeding, monitor vital signs, and help prepare patient rooms, aiming to keep patients safe and comfortable. Strong observation and willingness to take coaching are valued.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Graduated from an accredited school of nursing or 1 year direct patient care experience required.
• Basic Life Support (CPR) certification within 14 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care as delegated by RN staff.
• Monitors and records vital signs.
• Assists with personal hygiene and physical care needs.
• Accurately measures, records, and reports intake and output.
• Obtains and records daily weight.
• Performs blood glucose testing using a meter.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Patient Care Assistant, you’ll help our patients feel safer and more comfortable by assisting with their basic daily life activities.

Every day, you will directly support patients with tasks such as personal hygiene, mobility, and feeding, while also assisting nursing staff with vital sign monitoring and preparing patient rooms.

Your success in this role comes from your genuine desire to help patients feel better, whether that means giving them fresh bed linens or checking their vitals. You're diligent about your tasks, observant of patients’ conditions improving or declining, and accept coaching well.

Pay Range

$16.06 - $22.69 /hour
