Job summary

St. Joseph Health in Brazos Valley is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to support patients with daily activities, hygiene, mobility, and feeding. You will assist nursing staff with vital signs, room preparation, and basic patient comfort tasks.

The role emphasizes observation of patient conditions, willingness to learn, and teamwork in a busy hospital setting. Candidates with Nursing education or 1 year PCT experience are considered; CPR within 14 days is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required at hire.
• Graduate from an accredited nursing program or have 1 year direct patient care experience.
• Basic Life Support (CPR) certification within 14 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care as delegated by RN staff.
• Monitors and records vital signs.
• Assists with personal hygiene and physical care needs.
• Accurately measures, records, and reports intake and output.
• Obtains and records daily weight.
• Performs blood glucose testing using a meter.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Patient Care Assistant, you’ll help our patients feel safer and more comfortable by assisting with their basic daily life activities.

Every day, you will directly support patients with tasks such as personal hygiene, mobility, and feeding, while also assisting nursing staff with vital sign monitoring and preparing patient rooms.

Your success in this role comes from your genuine desire to help patients feel better, whether that means giving them fresh bed linens or checking their vitals. You're diligent about your tasks, observant of patients’ conditions improving or declining, and accept coaching well.
