Job summary

St. Joseph Health Madison Hospital is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to support patients with daily living activities, assist nursing staff, and help maintain safe, comfortable patient rooms.

You will participate in monitoring vital signs, assisting with hygiene, and basic measurements while adhering to care plans and safety protocols. This on-site role offers opportunities to develop clinical skills in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required at hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification within 14 days of hire.
• Prior healthcare or patient care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care as delegated by RN staff.
• Monitors and records vital signs.
• Assists in personal hygiene and physical care needs.
• Accurately measures, records, and reports intake and output.
• Obtains and records daily weight.
• Performs blood glucose testing using a blood glucose meter.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Patient Care Assistant, you'll help our patients feel safer and more comfortable by assisting with their basic daily life activities.

Every day, you will directly support patients with tasks such as personal hygiene, mobility, and feeding, while also assisting nursing staff with vital sign monitoring and preparing patient rooms.

Your success in this role comes from your genuine desire to help patients feel better, whether that means giving them fresh bed linens or checking their vitals. You're diligent about your tasks, observant of patients’ conditions improving or declining, and accept coaching well.

Job Requirements

Required

Pay Range

$15.00 - $20.63 /hour
