Nationwide Children's Hospital is hiring a Patient Care Assistant for the General Medicine Unit. This role involves caring for pediatric patients, collecting vital signs, and performing clerical duties in a fast-paced environment. Ideal candidates are passionate about providing exceptional care to children and possess relevant licensure or experience.

Minimum pay is $19.00/hour + shift and weekend differentials
General Medicine Unit Facts
Team members care for a range of patients which do not fit any other specialty (Asthma, Failure to Thrive (FTT), Hyperbilirubinemia, readmit unit for neonatal, first-time seizure, adolescent med); High volume of patients; Culture of mentoring and support
60-70% of patients are babies
Typical stay for patient- 2-3 days
PCAs typically have 6-8 patients per shift
Responsibilities include: feeds, labs, finger & heal sticks

Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
Licensure & Experience Required:
Active State Tested Nursing Assistant OR
One year of comparable experience in a hospital setting within the past three years OR
Nursing students can qualify if they have successfully completed the fundamentals of nursing course(s) of an approved college/school program.
- Basic Life Support Certification required upon hire.
Skills: 1. Sound written and verbal communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills. 2. Demonstrated basic computer skills. 3. Must demonstrate competence as defined in the Patient Care Assistant responsibilities/skills checklist in providing age appropriate care and services to pediatric patients of all ages and selected adult patients. 4. Displays a positive presence and interacts with all levels of staff, outside vendors, consultants, and physicians. Minimum Physical Requirements:Occasionally, 1-33% of the time: Climb stairs/ladder; sitting; lifting/carrying 41-60lbs, 61-100lbs, +100lbs with assistance. May come into contact with fumes, gases, vapors, biohazard waste, machinery, and power tools. Frequently, 34-66% of the time: Squat/kneel; reaching above shoulder; repetitive arm and hand use. Lifting/carrying 40lbs; pushing/pulling 0-61lbs; depth perception-vision. May come into contact with blood, bodily fluids, communicable diseases or pathogens, chemicals, and electricity. Continuously, 67-100% of the time: Standing, walking, audible speech, speech clarity and hearing acuity. Color vision, seeing far/near.EOE M/F/Disability/Vet
