Job summary

MSU Health Care is seeking a Health Care Assistant to support outpatient clinic operations both clinically and administratively. Under supervision of licensed professionals, you will assist physicians and clinicians, perform routine exams and tests, and help with scheduling and patient records.

The role requires strong communication, medical terminology knowledge, and ability to work in a dynamic clinic environment with a patient-centered approach.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent required.
• 6 months to 1 year of medical office or clinic experience.
• Experience with EMR and patient scheduling systems.
• Experience with Medical Billing/Medical Terminology.

Responsibilities

• Greets patients, registers them, and directs them to correct areas.
• Records chief complaint, takes vital signs, and performs routine tests including vaccines and venipuncture.
• Assists clinicians during examinations, treatments, and minor surgery.
• Orders and schedules lab tests and distributes results to providers and records.
• Prepares equipment and cleans examination rooms for patient exams.
• Verifies insurance coverage and collects payments from patients.
• Communicates with insurance vendors to obtain authorizations for tests.”,
• Schedules appointments and maintains master schedule for physicians; handles calls and messages.
• Manages patient charts and medical records; files and copies documents as needed.
• Types materials and maintains filing systems; handles petty cash.
• Monitors supply inventory and orders per guidelines.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
