Job summary

Yale NewHaven Health is seeking a patient-centered Associate to provide direct and indirect care under the supervision of registered nurses. The role emphasizes teamwork, communication, and adherence to PFCC principles to ensure high-quality patient experiences.

The UAP will assist with rooming, vital signs, specimen collection, and basic procedures while supporting a safe and efficient clinical workflow within a busy outpatient setting.

Qualifications

  • Minimum high school diploma or GED; completion of a medical assisting program.
  • Preferred 12–18 months experience in patient care settings.
  • Preferred medical assisting credential recognized by CT Department of Public Health.

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient-centered care under RN direction and as part of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families and health care staff.
  • Collaborate with nursing and interdisciplinary teams; demonstrate teamwork and mutual respect.
  • Room patients, obtain vitals, and assist with examinations and basic procedures.
  • Maintain safety and quality in care delivery and charting using EPIC.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as handling records and documentation per protocol.
  • Set up instruments/equipment according to department protocol.
  • Uphold PFCC principles and professional conduct.
