Job summary

UofL Health is seeking a dedicated Unit Clerk to support the patient care team on the Louisville campus. You will handle clerical duties, transcribe orders, assemble medical records, and communicate with physicians, nurses, patients and families under the supervision of an RN.

The role includes basic clinical tasks such as phlebotomy, EKG lead placement, point-of-care testing, and daily data collection while upholding HIPAA, safety and service excellence.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Completion of a recognized Clinical Assistant, Medical Assistant or EMT training program is preferred.
• Basic Life Support (through AHA) is required.
• Current CNA/CMA/EMT certification or enrollment in nursing program preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transcribes and computes physician orders accurately.
• Assembles patient medical records and maintains order within charts.
• Sets up admission charts and disassembles discharged and transferred charts.
• Communicates physician orders to nurses and coordinates with care team.
• Performs and documents basic clinical tasks (phlebotomy, EKG lead placement, point-of-care testing).
• Maintains HIPAA privacy and safety standards.
