Ellison 12 Adult Medical Unit in Boston, MA, is seeking a dedicated individual to join as a part-time Patient Care Assistant (PCA). The role requires availability for full-time night shifts.

The unit has 36 beds and cares for acutely ill medical patients with diverse diagnoses requiring complex nursing care.

Schedule

• Night shifts (7pm-7am, 11pm-7am)
• 2x 8-hour shifts and 2x 12-hour shifts per week
• Mandatory weekend shifts every other weekend

Job Summary

Essential Functions

• Perform vital signs, weights/heights, and intake/output measurements accurately and timely
• Complete documentation in medical records
• Interact effectively with patients and families
• Assist with hygiene tasks, repositioning, and mobility
• Report patient concerns to nurses

Qualifications

High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred. No experience in lieu of degree accepted. Certifications: BLS, Certified Medical Assistant, EMT-Paramedic, or Nursing Assistant preferred. Experience in patient or elder care (1-2 years) preferred. Skills: knowledge of medical terminology, patient service skills, ability to lift 35 lbs, proficient with electronic medical records.
