Job description

White 9 is seeking a PCA, with Day and Night availability, and to provide rotating weekend and holiday coverage. Candidates seeking a permanent full-time role as PCA will be only considered for this opportunity at this time.

Why This Role Is Important?

White 9 is a twenty-five-bed acute care medical unit. A majority of patients are admitted directly from the Emergency Department and have single or multi-system problems including, but not limited to, alterations in gas exchange, airway clearance, cardiac function, renal function, nutrition, hepatic function, skin integrity, and mental states. Under the direction of a registered nurse (RN), the Patient Care Associate (PCA) assists the multi-disciplinary healthcare team in clinical support functions to promote a safe, compassionate patient care environment.

Schedule

• Days (7a-7pm, 7am-3pm), and Night (11pm-7am, 7pm-7am)
• 4 shifts per week
• Rotating Weekends (Sat/Sun included), and Holiday schedule mandatory

What are we looking for?

• PCA assists patients with daily living needs, monitoring & reading vital signs, drawing blood, and obtaining EKGs. Responds to patient requests in a timely manner, safeguarding patient confidentiality, monitoring patient safety, and always communicating in a respectful manner.
• Required: Must have recent experience and/or training in clinical patient care.
• Preferred: Licensed, certified, or enrolled student in a Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Mental Health Technician, or EMT accredited program, at the time of hire, OR candidate enrolled in a Nursing, Pre-Med, PA undergraduate program, with at least one semester of patient care rotations completed at the time of hire.
