Job summary

Saint Joseph Medical Center - Joliet is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to support patients with daily living activities and basic nursing care under the supervision of the RN in charge.

You will help maintain a safe environment and contribute to a team that delivers high-quality patient care in an acute care setting. A CNA certification and relevant certifications are preferred, with continuous on-the-job training provided.

Qualifications

• Certifications in Phlebotomy, EKG, and BLS are preferred.
• Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
• Minimum six months experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office preferred.
• CNA certification from state is required where applicable.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living.

• Help maintain a safe, clean environment on the unit.

Responsibilities

The Patient Care Assistant assists patients with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care to all patients and assists in maintenance of a safe environment under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse in charge of the team and/or unit.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

• 1. Current Phlebotomy certification upon hire, preferred.
• 2. Current EKG certification upon hire, preferred.
• 3. Current BLS (AHA) within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
• 4. Possesses knowledge of Medical Terminology.
• 5. Minimum six months previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office preferred.

Facility Specific Requirements (as applicable required):

• 6. Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), State approved Certification required.
• 7. High School Diploma or equivalent
