Job summary

Mass General Brigham is seeking a Per Diem Patient Care Technician for The Brigham and Women’s Hospital (onsite). You will assist patients with activities of daily living, monitor vital signs, and support clinical staff under licensed supervision.

Responsibilities include completing medical records, aiding with mobility and hygiene, and communicating patient concerns to nurses. Onsite shifts at 70 Francis Street, with rotating schedules and competitive hourly pay.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred; experience may substitute per policy.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.
• Experience in patient care/elder care 0–1 year preferred.
• Proficiency with electronic medical records and basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing and feeding.
• Take and document vital signs, weights/heights, intakes and outputs.
• Complete documentation in the medical record accurately and timely.
• Help patients turn and reposition, assist with mobility and transfers.
• Communicate health concerns to nurses promptly and clearly.

Job Summary

Working under the direction of licensed personnel, assists patients with activities of daily living tasks such as bathing, dressing, and eating. Also assists with taking patients’ temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.

• Essential Functions-Performs vital signs, weights/heights, intakes, and outputs with accuracy and within established time frame and/or as requested.
• Completes all documentation in the medical record as required.
• Interacts with patients and their families effectively.
• Helps patients with a number of basic hygiene tasks. This may include bathing and dressing patients, helping them use the toilet if needed, and feeding them.
• Assist with helping patients turn and reposition themselves in bed as needed and help them move between the bed and a wheelchair if they use one.
• Listens to any health concerns patients may have and report those concerns to the nurses.

• Experience Experience working in patient care/elder care 0-1 year preferred
• Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions. - Knowledge of medical terminology. - Strong patient/customer service skills. - Ability to lift up to 35 pounds. - Proficient in computer skills to work efficiently with electronic medical records.
