Job summary

Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket, RI, part of Prime Healthcare, is seeking a Patient Care Assistant to support nurses, assist with ADLs, and help maintain a safe, compassionate environment for patients.

The role is part-time with 24 hours per week, evenings (2:45 - 11:15 pm). Requirements include a RI CNA license, BLS, and preferred phlebotomy/EKG certs, plus a high school diploma and hospital experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred at hire.
• EKG certification preferred at hire.
• BLS (AHA) certification within 30 days of hire.
• Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
• Minimum six months experience in acute care hospital or physician’s office.
• Current CNA license in Rhode Island.

Responsibilities

• Assist with activities of daily living under licensed nurse supervision.
• Obtain vital signs, EKG, phlebotomy and blood glucose as needed.
• Document results and report to licensed nurse.
• Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment.
• Perform clerical duties including telephone, reports, and scanning medical records.

Responsibilities

The Patient Care Assistant assists, supports, and provides direct care to patients under the direction of the licensed nurse. Assists with activities of daily living, including but not limited to, bathing, feeding and ambulation. Obtains vital signs, EKG, phlebotomy and blood glucose. Documents and reports results to licensed nurse. Provides a safe and therapeutic environment. Performs clerical functions including initiating, directing and receiving telephone calls, preparing, printing and scanning various patient reports and medical record information to internal and external departments and facilities.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

• 1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 2. Current Phlebotomy certification upon hire, preferred.
• 3. Current EKG certification upon hire, preferred.
• 4. Current BLS (AHA) certificate within 30 days of hire and maintain current.
• 5. Possesses knowledge of Medical Terminology.
• 6. Minimum six months previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office preferred.
• 7. Current CNA license in state of Rhode Island.

Facility Specific Requirements (facility may require items listed below)

• 1. Current Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) certificate within 6 months of hire and maintain current per facility requirement.
