Job summary

Huntsville Hospital seeks a Patient Care Assistant to support the unit with patient care tasks including bathing, repositioning, transporting patients, stocking, and equipment cleaning. The role also involves performing EKGs and glucometer POC with maintained competency, all under RN supervision.

Education required is a high school diploma or GED; CNA training and current BLS certification at hire are preferred. Previous receptionist or unit secretary experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Education: A high school diploma or GED; CNA training preferred.
• Experience: Previous receptionist / hospital unit secretarial experience preferred.
• Licenses/Certificates: CNA Certification preferred; current BLS certification required or within 30 days of hire (Certification must be current prior to being released from Orientation status and providing independent patient care without an assigned preceptor).

Responsibilities

• The Patient Care Assistant assists the unit in patient care duties such as cleaning/bathing patients, positioning, re-positioning and transporting patients, stocking shelves, cleaning equipment and assisting with dietary tasks.
• Performs EKGs and Glucometer POC, maintains competency in Glucometer and EKG.
• All work is performed under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN).
