Job summary

Huntsville Hospital is looking for a Patient Care Assistant to support nursing staff by performing basic patient care tasks, maintaining equipment, and assisting with dietary needs on the unit. The role includes performing EKGs and glucometer testing under RN supervision, with preference for CNA training and BLS certification.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, and prior receptionist or unit secretary experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Education: a high school diploma or GED; CNA training preferred
• Experience: receptionist / hospital unit secretarial experience preferred
• Licenses/Certificates: CNA Certification preferred; current BLS certification required or within 30 days of hire; certification must be current prior to being released from Orientation status and providing independant patient care without a assigned preceptor
• Certificate of Completion of a formal program that meets regulatory standards in Conflict resolution, de-escalation and teaches physical intervention techniques; must have on hire or obtained within 90 days of hire (I.e. MOAB, CPI or equivalent)

Responsibilities

• Assists with patient care duties such as cleaning/bathing patients, positioning, re-positioning and transporting patients, stocking shelves, cleaning equipment and assisting with dietary tasks
• Performs EKGs and Glucometer POC, maintains competency in Glucometer and EKG under supervision of an RN
