Job summary

Huntsville Hospital in Alabama is seeking a cafeteria worker to support patient meal service. You will set up and serve patient trays, prepare coffee and tea for the meal line, and manage food carts according to the schedule and procedures.

You will also help stock disposables, condiments, and diet kits, assist with equipment maintenance, and ensure cleanliness of dishes and utensils while delivering courteous service to staff and patients.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Six months food service experience preferred.
• Some knowledge of diets is required.
• Knowledge of cooking methods and procedures.
• Ability to communicate with the public and follow written and oral instructions.

Responsibilities

• Sets up and serves patient trays in accordance with established schedule and procedures.
• Prepares coffee and tea for patient food service line.
• Prepares, loads, and unloads, and cleans food carts.
• Assists with care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
• Restocks all disposable items, condiments, and diet kits and lines trays with tray covers.
• Assists the dishwasher with scraping trays and washing dishes ensuring that all dishes and utensils are clean.
• Utilizes good customer service skills, serving guests and employees courteously and effectively, explaining menu or food items when requested and giving correct portion sizes.
