Job summary

Portland Mental Health & Wellness is seeking a Patient Account Representative to manage billing and accounts receivable, verify insurance, and resolve discrepancies. The role supports the Practice Manager and HR Manager on projects, with a flexible option to work remotely within the Portland metro area.

The ideal candidate demonstrates attention to detail, excellent communication, and knowledge of HIPAA regulations, with 2+ years in medical/mental health billing.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years in medical/mental health billing.
• Knowledge of Insurance Coordination of Benefits.
• Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid and commercial plans.
• Familiarity with Excel, Google Workspace, and EHR systems.
• Commitment to confidentiality and HIPAA policies.

Responsibilities

• Manage patient accounts, including billing, payments, and collections.
• Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility.
• Process client insurance forms and claims.
• Resolve billing discrepancies and insurance denials in a timely manner.
• Communicate with patients, insurers, and providers to address inquiries.
• Follow up on outstanding accounts receivable and arrange payment plans.
