Job summary

Pioneer Rheumatology, an affiliate of Articularis Healthcare Group, seeks a detail-oriented Billing Specialist to manage insurance claims, patient payments, and billing discrepancies in a growing private practice in Oregon. The role emphasizes accuracy, HIPAA compliance, and timely submissions; in-office work is preferred but local remote could be considered.

Responsibilities include submitting clean claims, following up on denials, posting remits, coordinating collections, and ensuring coding

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED required; 2 years in a customer-service role or related experience.
• Experience with medical payers including Medicare, Medicaid and commercial insurance.
• Previous experience in a medical/clinical setting advisable.
• Working knowledge of medical billing systems and coding practices.
• Proficient with computers, internet, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Certification in billing and coding preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet and prepare patients for the health care provider with a caring attitude.
• Prepare and submit clean claims to third party payers electronically or by paper.
• Coordinate collection processes and track current collections.
• Manage weekly statement process and review statements prior to processing.
• Identify and resolve patient billing problems.
• Perform denial and insurance follow-up management.
• Submit adjusted, corrected, and rebilled claims promptly.
• Post electronic remits (ERA), manual payments and adjustments; handle refunds as needed.
• Ensure coding is compliant, accurate and up to date.
• Review accounts and advise Supervisor on non-collectible accounts.
• Maintain strict confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
