Responsibilities

  • Review schedules for new patients and update as needed.
  • Call patients with appointment reminders and collect insurance details.
  • Explain billing processes and answer inquiries from patients and payers.
  • Assist staff with basic account maintenance and insurance questions.
  • Assist with scheduling duties and reminder cards.

Position Summary

The Patient Billing Services Representative II is the face of our department and often the first impression of Orthopedic Surgery. They are responsible for providing excellent customer service and creating a positive experience for all patients and visitors. This role involves ensuring all check‑in and registration is complete and accurate, verifies insurance and referral needs, handles patient inquiries, checks patients out upon completion of their visit and schedules appointments as needed. Works as a team to ensure operations run smoothly in our fast‑paced clinics.

This position requires evenings and some Saturday hours. May require local travel to cover other Orthopedic locations.

Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
  • Obtains insurance information from patients and counsels alternative ways for financial assistance.
  • Registers all new patients and assists with form completion.
  • Reviews schedule for new patients and makes updates when necessary.
  • Calls patients with appointment time reminders; obtains insurance information and referral forms.
  • Explains billing process to patients; answers incoming inquiries from patients and third‑party payers.
  • Explains billing process to other staff; assists with basic account maintenance activities.
  • Assists patients with insurance questions regarding the billing process.
  • Assists staff with sending out reminder cards and other scheduling duties.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary Range

$17.89 - $26.35 / Hourly
