Job summary

Avera Health is seeking a Billing/Accounts Receivable professional to support the patient financial services team in Sioux Falls.

Responsibilities include verifying admissions/discharges for billing, handling calls, posting cash receipts, and ensuring correct insurance reimbursements. The role emphasizes accuracy, confidentiality, and strong teamwork within a multidisciplinary environment.

Qualifications

• Must be able to communicate effectively with others and maintain confidentiality.
• 1–3 years relevant experience preferred.
• High school diploma or GED; associate degree preferred in business/accounts serves as a plus.

Responsibilities

• Verifies daily admissions/discharges to ensure billing info is complete and organized for input into the system.
• Answers and addresses calls and messages, routing to the appropriate person.
• Posts cash receipts in accounts receivable for self-pay and third-party payments.
• Verifies payments received are reimbursed correctly according to insurance contracts.
• Runs cost estimates for patients and completes prior-authorization for services.
• Researches credit balances, payment errors, and refund issuers.
