Job summary

Avera Downtown Sioux Falls is seeking an Accounts Receivable/Billing Clerk to support patient billing, verify admissions data, and manage payments. You will post receipts, check insurance reimbursements, and handle inquiries in a collaborative, patient-focused team.

Qualifications

• High School or GED equivalent required.
• Associate's Business Administration, Accounting or related field preferred.
• 1-3 years relevant experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Verifies daily admissions/discharges to ensure billing info is properly completed and organized into daily batches for system entry.
• Answers and addresses phone calls and messages, routing to necessary individuals.
• Posts cash receipts in accounts receivable for self-pay and third-party payments.
• Verifies payments received are reimbursed correctly according to insurance contracts.
• Runs cost estimates for patients and completes prior-authorization to ensure services are approved.
• Researches credit balances, payment errors and refund issuers.
