Job summary

Logan Health in Montana is seeking a Patient Billing and Collections Specialist to coordinate and facilitate billing, payment posting, and collection activities across assigned areas, including claims research and patient inquiries.

The ideal candidate will have at least one year of hospital or medical office experience, strong interpersonal skills, HIPAA awareness, and proficiency with Word, Outlook, and Excel to manage confidential information and deliver excellent customer service.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year experience in a hospital or medical office setting preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with ability to handle confidential situations.
• Proficiency with Word, Outlook, and Excel; ability to learn other software.
• Knowledge of HIPAA guidelines and related regulations.
• Organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Analyzes and interprets account data to facilitate timely claim and payment resolution.
• Posts payments and adjustments using applicable fee schedules and policies.
• Identifies credits, variances and trends to aid resolution.
• Documents all communication in a clear, accurate manner.
• Acts as a Patient Accounting liaison between patients, providers, payers, and Logan Health departments.
• Manages Medicare/Medicaid denials and insurance appeals as applicable.
• Maintains regular and consistent attendance and teamwork.
