Job summary

UHS is seeking a Patient Account Representative to manage electronic and manual billings, statements, and follow-up with third-party payers and patients for outstanding balances. You will also prepare daily cash receipts and maintain insurance logs.

The role requires accuracy, collaboration with a hospital team, and adherence to confidentiality policies as well as department procedures. Overtime flexibility may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2–3 years’ hospital/insurance billing experience preferred.
• Combination of education, training, or experience in hospital business office required.
• Experience with patient accounts, computers, and multiple software programs required.
• Overtime and flexible hours may be required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare all accounts for billing and ensure productivity standards.
• Submit insurance billings to primary and secondary payers.
• Transmit billings to third-party payers manually or electronically.
• Follow up with payers at 30-day intervals after billing.
• Follow up on insurance billings at least twice every 30 days for payment status.
• Maintain a current tickler/aging system for follow-up.
• Document contacts on a productivity log.
• Provide back-up support for other business office teammates.
• Adhere to facility and departmental policies and procedures.
