Job summary

Westchester Medical Center Health Network is seeking a Patient Accounting Clerk to process insurance claims for patient services and manage billing records. You will submit claims to third-party payers and reconcile data in an automated system to keep receivables accurate.

Qualifications

• Billing experience preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalency required.
• Comfort with data entry across multiple patient access programs.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and submits claims to third party payers to obtain reimbursement for patient care.
• Enters and reconciles billing data in automated systems to update receivable status.
• Requests medical records or admitting staff for clarification of diagnosis, coverage or other details.
• Collaborates with Admitting, Business Office, and Medical Records to update billing information.
• Communicates with carriers and other payers by mail or phone to determine proper billing status.
• Maintains and updates patient files with billing information.
• Handles routine billing inquiries from patients and third party payors.
