Job summary

Prime Healthcare is seeking a Patient Account Rep I to post incoming payments to patient accounts daily, input data, and reconcile accounts using hospital systems. You will review authorizations, process referrals, and ensure accurate reimbursement through insurance billing while maintaining professional communication with patients and colleagues.

The role requires strong multitasking, attention to detail, and knowledge of medical terminology.

Qualifications

• Ability to multi-task, prioritize needs to meet required timelines
• Analytical, mathematical and problem-solving skills required
• Customer Services experience required
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable or cashier experience preferred
• Familiar with commercial or government billing requirements and knowledge of insurance, coding, and medical terminology is preferred
• High School Graduate or GED Equivalent Required (effective 4/1/14 for all new hires)
• Knowledge of basic understanding medical coding and third-party operating procedures and practices
• Knowledge of multiple insurance billing requirements and 6 mo.-1 year of billing experience required
• Medical and Insurance terminology essential

Responsibilities

• Posting all incoming payments to patient accounts daily
• Inputs and retrieves data from computer systems and reconciles accounts daily
• Applies payments to patient accounts accurately and efficiently
• Distributes billing to appropriate personnel and follows up on authorizations and referrals
• Keeps current knowledge of contracts and Worker’s Compensation fee schedules
• Handles hospital mail with tact and discretion when assisting patients and families
• Analyzes payments from insurance companies to ensure maximum reimbursement of hospital receivables
• Coordinates with payers and internal teams to resolve billing issues and ensure compliance with regulations
• Posts contractual adjustments to patient AR balances and forwards underpayments/denials for follow-up
